Day Two

Day two of our trip and in Nicaragua is coming to a close. We planned hard today and are looking forward to the next three nights on the volcanic Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. We got the Granada experience today, walking down narrow streets lined with people just standing out in the doorways, filled with honking trucks and cars blaring music out of speakers strapped to the top or settled into the bed of the truck. We munched on Frosted Flakes for breakfast strangely enough and have been lounging around trying to stay cool. It just started raining and we feel like we´re in heaven, a few of us hopped right out in the open area of the hostal. It´s so strange having internet access in such an underdeveloped country. It seems like we´ve been together and down here forever. Very excited for the rest of the trip, for all that mental and physical exhaustion. It will be interesting to see if people can keep track of their things ;) and survive without fans and internet.

We´re thinking of you all and we´re all doing wonderfully. Tonight we ran into some fellow World Challengers and have invited them for dinner.

Also Meg says happy birthday to her brother! We´ll post again as soon as possible.

We Made It!

After a long day yesterday, a 2:45 AM wake-up, and hours of travelling, I think we are all very happy (and excited!) to finally be here! Our day yesterday was full of packing, unpacking, sending parents shopping, and struggling to order a simple dinner from Famous. Our trip to the airport and arrival in Logan was smooth. Only minor mishap was me loosing all of my luggage to Miami Airport. But it will come soon. This is camping, right?! We had a hard time finding our transport from the airport to our hostel, but eventually made it here where it is VERY hot and humid. There are beautiful plants, flowers, trees, etc. The local people are so nice, and the kids are very friendly and adorable. We have just come back from exploring dinner options and the local street markets, booking bus tickets for transport, and planning our day tomorrow. And, we just saw a lizard crawl up the wall! A very exciting day. We can´t explain how excited and grateful we are to be here! Tomorrow, we will hopefully post some pictures... and the next day´s events.
